And so while that has been ruled a drowning, Crabtree's lady friend in Belize City says that the British citizen dreamed of living in Placencia. She spoke off camera:...
Voice of: Girlfriend
"He doesn't mess with anybody. He knows his limit of drinking, so whenever he drinks and he feel that he is getting a little high, he would say its time and he would go take a bath and lie down. His thing is Placencia, nowhere else. He was texting this lady for an apartment to live in Placencia. He wanted to live at the seaside."
Crabtree told her he made his first visit to Belize earlier this year. [...]
It's an odd way of crashing a sale - but that's just what the driver of a Mazda CR-7 did today on Orange Street in Belize City.
Seems the driver made some kind of error in judgement coming off East Canal, barreled over the sidewalk and sailed straight into the show window.
No one was hurt and police cleared traffic fairly quickly. [...]
Planning a little solo traveling
jaunt across the land?
If this is your first time planning your virgin solo traveling adventure, I understand completely how excited and nervous you are. I was once in your shoes.
Before you slap on your backpack and march out that door, here’s a small checklist of things you might want to do to ensure a better solo traveling trip.
Research, Research, Research
It doesn’t matter if you’re headed into uncharted territory or a bustling metropolis, it only helps if you already know what to expect when you set foot in your destination. A quick google search should give you enough information on things like the local culture, geography, weather and political climate to start with. Oh, and do not forget to check out the local laws, either-written and unwritten. People have in the past gotten into trouble for using the wrong gesture or for looking the wrong person in the eye. Did you also know that shaking your head can be i [...]
Belize's volleyball women have excelled again, winning a silver medal in the Central American U23 Championships played in Managua, Nicaragua this weekend.
The team secured silver in a hotly contested final game where they beat El Salvador in an even match. In the first set of that game, Belize came back from being down 10-3 led by Melanie Palacio, Mya Musa and Fatoumata Camara.
In four appearances in the Central American U23 Championship - this is the first time Belize has come back with a medal.
In 2018, Belize also earned silver in the Central American Women's Volleyball Championship played at the Civic Center.

Profiling - it's not permitted in the law - but police do it all the time. They stop persons, conduct routine searches and then snap their pictures with cell phone cameras. It's done widely in Belize City - especially to young, black males.
Cabinet has said the cops shouldn't do it, but that hasn't stopped them. And, in fact the COMPOL has indicated that the practice will continue. Police use these pictures to make databases of persons who haven't even committed crimes.
On Wednesday, the attorney general told the media that the police can continue until someone sues them - which any profiled citizen would be well within their rights to do:
Hon. Michael Peyrefitte - Attorney General
"If he believes that there is no law that prevents him from doing that and if he believes that is the best way to fight crime then he would proceed.
Then if someone wants to challenge him, anyone has access to the court to challenge him.
All I know is that within the law, our law does not a [...]

Find an Incredible Tour Group
Before booking my trip, I was not sure how I felt about going with a tour group. I was worried that traveling with a group of strangers would take away from the trip. However, after plenty of research, I decided to go with Active Adventures on the Ultimate Peru Adventure.
Our trip leader was not only full of helpful and interesting information, but became a friend who gave local tips, and made me feel c [...]
The National Aids Commission wants all Belizeans to know their HIV status, and so, they set up testing booths in public parks at several major population centers around the country today.
Their focus this year was men - because the male population tends to avoid HIV testing.
So they sent out the message far and wide and made the process quick, easy and free.
We found out more:
Anellie Paredez - Communications and Programs Officer, NAC
"Today is the second annual national testing day countrywide, and we are out here doing free HIV testing for anyone who wants to know their status. Statistics have shown that males are not willing to come out and get tested. So, this year, we're focusing more on the male population, and our theme this year is "Leave No Man Behind". We're doing a raffle surrounding our event. So, for any male person who gets tested, they will get a raffle ticket for a chance to win a prize. It's Samsung J6 from Digicell. We have male grooming kits from Cour [...]
Machu Picchu, Peru
Although it's one of the most well-known archaeological wonders of the world, Machu Picchu still holds plenty of secrets and is on our shortlist of must-see destinations on a Peru trip.

Machu Picchu is an enigma, some would say a paradox because it is known as both the best known yet least known about of the Inca sites. Since its discovery on July 24, 1911, by North American Hiram Bingham, Machu Picchu has been considered one of the world's greatest architectural and archaeological monuments, due to its extraordinary magnificence and harmonious structure. Machu Picchu is definitely one of the most fascinating sites in Peru.
At 2,400 meters above sea level, in the province of Urubamba, department of Cusco, Machu Picchu surprises us because of the way its stone constructions are spread over a narrow and uneven mountain top, bordering a sheer 400 meter cliff side of the Urubamba Riv [...]
