The Spectacular Lausanne Palace
Built over a century ago, in 1915, the historic 140-room Lausanne Palace is a 5-star hotel in the Olympic city of Lausanne. A member of Swiss Deluxe Hotels and Leading Hotels of the World, this Belle Epoque hotel faces out towards the city at the front and enjoys Alpine vistas across Lake Geneva (which goes by the preferred name of Lac Léman in this part of Switzerland) to the rear.
We arrived by train from Geneva Airport and the hotel had asked us for our arrival time at Lausanne station so that they could meet us on arrival. My phone rang shortly before we arrived into Gare de Lausanne. It was our driver confirming that he would be on the station platform to meet us. He greeted us with a smile, helped us with our cases, led us to the car and took us on the short transfer to Lausanne Palace.
This was our second stay at the hotel, but our first for quite a long time, yet the hotel was every bit as welcoming and inviting [...]

Today’s let’s chat plastic and the plastics to avoid next time you are at the supermarket.
Now, I know we are all trying to avoid plastic as best we can – and I’m not advocating the use of unnecessary plastic, but let’s have some real talk first before moving on to the plastics to avoid. Going 100% plastic-free isn’t something I have been able to achieve, or get close to.
It’s certainly a work in progress, however, the plastic-free movement is tied in to a whole lot of privilege (money, time, access to shops, health, capacity, and ability) that currently, it’s unlikely to become a realistic endpoint any time soon for many, including myself. Do I feel guilty about this? No, I certainly don’t feel guilty for not being able to be plastic-free (and you shouldn’t either).
It’s also important to not lose sight of the fact that plastic waste occurs further upstream before “plastic-free” items get to us. This excellent article points out that bulk shops thems [...]

Thomas Cook Bosses got £20M In Bonuses in last 5 Years

Just hours after Thomas Cook went out of business, it’s been revealed the firm’s top bosses were paid more than £20 million in bonuses over the past five years.
The British global travel group officially ceased trading in the early hours of this morning (September 23), leaving hundreds of thousands of travelers stranded.
But despite long-term fears that the company faced collapse in recent years, having struggled to compete with cheaper online operators, its bosses appear to have been making money regardless.

5 Cool Places to see in Malawi
Although it is home to the country’s capital and main airport, Central Malawi is not as popular with visitors as the better-known attractions to the south of the country.
But it does have plenty of places to visit and great experiences on offer, all within relatively easy access of the point where most people enter the country, Lilongwe. In this blog we’re rounding up just 5 of the places to visit in Central Malawi.
Although many visitors to Malawi may be limited to a single night (if that) in Lilongwe as they head further afield to sample the country’s varied delights, it is a city with plenty of character and sufficient attractions to easily fill a few days.
It is made up of two very distinct settlements: the modern Capital City and the traditional Old Town – and a charming Nature Sanctuary lies between the two! Even the Old Town has only a relatively short history- its population at the turn of the 20th century was jus [...]
